Directing work

I've recently moved into directing and producing content for social media.  It is something I very much enjoy, creating short portrait documentaries which have human interest, humour and storytelling at it's heart.  See below for some examples of my work and style.

Brief - As part of a series of guest curators called House Guests, the crazy, talented and unique Young Fathers tell us about why they got involved and the importance of inclusion in art.

CLIENT - Edinburgh International Film Festival

Title - EIFF Stories: Richard E Grant

Production Company - Studio Something

Role - Director / Producer

Brief - To direct & produce a series of short portrait documentaries for EIFFtv which worked on all their various social media platforms.  To showcase the festival, it's stars but also the people who make it work, we did over 10 short portrait docs.  

Telling stories about cinema and people involved in cinema, in a cinematic way.

Title - Mika's Choice

Brief - To create a short documentary telling the story of Mika, a science teacher from Sweden who won a competition to have his own beer recipe created by Innis & Gunn.

Client - The Dalmore Whisky 

Title - The Dalmore presents richard paterson 50

Brief - Richard Paterson, renowned for his role as Master Distiller at The Dalmore Distillery in the Scottish Highlands, has spent the past 50 years of his illustrious career creating some of the worlds most coveted and iconic whiskies.  We developed and created a film to celebrate this amazing milestone and celebrating his key achievements.

Interviews were shot in Scotland and the USA and b-roll shot at The Dalmore Distillery.

Film - #VoteYes Campaign Film

role - Director / producer

Brief - To create a film featuring prominent campaigners both famous and activists for a Yes vote in the Scottish Independence Referendum 2014. The idea was to inspire and show the diversity of the Yes Vote, while stripping back to get to core idea of why people want to vote yes.

This was shot over two days in different studios and had over 200,000 views by the end of the Yes Campaign.

Brief - Music video I directed and produced for OK Social Club's first single of their second album - Walkie Talkie.

Developed the 80's style look with the band and creative in which we wanted to keep in within a retro studio environment.

Shot in Freakworks Studio, Edinburgh in one day.
